Many glasses of Bacardi and some strange shots later it was 3AM and we were drunk. Tunnel bar in Vassiliki did its job and provided us with great time , relaxed mood and even some dancing in the streets on the way home , with Taylor Swift on the phone music player. Oh and uncomfortable, drunk voice message to P who most likely got scared, but did not admit it.
Little light broke in trough the balcony door towards the wall. It was midday already, but for us , time did not exist.
This feeling when time.. …“What is time?” Questions plays in your mind.. This is when I know that you are in it. In it to explore. Today on exploration agenda was Vassiliki.
We managed to arrive in late evening from Lefkas with stop at Porto Katsiki and then to Vassiliki. When we arrived after 5 PM , we did not expect to look for a place to stay on Booking.com. We found a camp site before hand online, but when we arrived , they said that there are no more tents available. Nothing. So we had to do a quick fix. Luckily there was availability for Wind Hotel that we managed to get.
After bit of confusion we got our room and chilled rest of the evening on the balcony and talked about life, love, sex, and all the other good parts of life.
The price on Booking.com was 27.50 Euro so that’s 13.75 each . Its not a bad price for the fact we got our own bathroom , balcony and even 2 beds .Ok a real bed and a couch or something like that . K did mention that couch was a nightmare with a gap in the middle ,so after this sacrifice of hers ,I was ready to sacrifice my comfort later in the trip!
It was morning to sleep in! But it had to stop and it was time to see what`s outside this cream painted hotel room walls. We walked on the path between main road in the town and the beach. There was a path build for walking . Best part is that road for walking was as wide as driving road itself. So that felt relaxing. Cafes and bars on the left and green grass for good 20 m on the right until grass turns into beautiful bright grey pebbles and then crushing waves. After 15 minutes on the boardwalk we reached a construction area where seems that boardwalk stops and have not yet been build.
We sat at the little café in the town and watched others go by. Some driving cars, some riding horse carriages, some simply driving road works equipment. We stopped at bakery and got some typical Greek sweets, that K did not want to eat ,sadly. And a cafe latte of course.
I looked around and felt true joy for all we have already done and all we still going to do. All was right in the world.
On the way back we made a stop at Club Vass by the beach, that is between a dive shop on one side and a windsurf shop on other. Looks like this establishment belongs with windsurf club. Ok I would not exactly describe it as club. Its more like a round bar with seats all around (Around 20 of them ) and barman in the middle. That’s about it. But they sell drinks and even have a happy hour from 5-6 PM. Most clientele is young windsurfers and kiters with long , dirty hair and too much beer.
Around 8 pm we decided to wonder down to the town and have some food. K was talking about Kalamari for a while, so Kalamari it was. After too long wait and no drinks we finally got food. But still no drinks.
After asking again we received our water and wine. We got Kalamari, mixed starters and grilled feta , that is the best started to eat in Greece. Guess that’s the reason I have gained all that weight. Food was good and way too much for 2 of us. Even with me trying to finish every last bit, we could not. Still simply had to leave food on the table .Portions were unexpectedly huge.
Sun is down so K is up and running . Seems that I have changed from night person to morning person while travelling together. And K is a night person .So when sun is down she is the most energized. Not to mention that next bar we headed to is a rock bar. And they do sell her favorite drink!
Bar is called Tunnel Bar.We arrived and there were about 12 people in total. We got a seat the bar and watched. Owner Makis was polite and would send free shots our way from time to time. Guess we got his attention. Most likely is was K , by knowing every single song he was playing from the laptop.
Bar was a little dark but comfortable. We sat on wooden chairs by the massive wooden counter. Maybe it was a fake wood, but who cares about this anyways. Makis had drinks behind him and he was happy to tell me about his rum selection and even gave me a taste of few of them. Sorry Tunnel Bar , I will stick to the Bacardi and coca. Old fashion and no hangovers. Makis was singing and giving out high-fives left and right.
Crowd started to change after 1 AM when Makis also changed music. Seems he was looking to please crowd , as some of the classics seems that only he and K knew. Many glasses of Bacardi and some strange shots later it was 3AM and we were drunk. Tunnel bar in Vassiliki did its job and provided us with great time , relaxed mood and even some dancing in the streets on the way home , with Taylor Swift on the phone music player. Tunnel bar is a lovely place to visit. Completely unique in its own way. Not commercialized or resold. Simply and truly owners home, where his heart is. Thank you Makis for good times.
I fell in the bed and could feel it spinning a little. K got her water at last , that she have been talking about for the last hour.
We arrived .The Eagle has landed !
Good night y all.
