As soon as you arrive in Kokopo , locals will ask you if you managed to visit this local hub. Local hub called Ralum Country Club . Also called a golf course or Ralum by GI ( Gazelle International Hotel). And for many it stays just that , but there is a lot more to it .
It was my shopping time ! I got my backpack on my shoulders and started walking toward fruit section of the market . It was sunny lady . Ladies with their Mary blouse dresses were sitting on the benches and watching me closely , but still giving me space. They greeted me with they warm smile filled with reddish marks from betel nut chewing. But not here. Market was free from this habit and could result in fine for those who have decided to test newly implemented rules.
It was late afternoon and we were on the way to the magical Kabakon Island.. This deserted land is free of people . Only 1 house on the island. Thats PNG to you...
During my dive on Big Pigeon wall ( Credner Islands ) i run into this little guy called Notodoris Serenae . Took me a little while to get a decent shot...
Credner islands are located just 30 minutes drive away from Kokopo Town . Some get banana boats from the town and go to the islands, some simply book a tour with all the luxuries and comfort. Either way this is a stunning spot to visit
Credner Islands is locally known as Little or Big Pigeon as they are 2 islands
Credner islands are partially populated. Little Pigeon is deserted, although some people sometimes simply live in a some sort of tent for a while and then move away again .
This stunning wreck called Atun Wreck iis located only 30 minutes boat drive away from Kokopo Town and even after stormy weather - is a great dive site.

My overnight stay was coming to an end , but one last stop before we leave stunning Mioko island at Duke Of York Islands. This stop was Queen Emma plantation- or whats left of it in Mioko!
Locals say stories of Queen Emma. A fierce lady who brought so much to people. People here still talk about her . How she walked around village and talked to people, how she say on the white sandy beach at Mioko bay and looked over newly planted coconut trees. How she wore white and liked her drink when she got older. Seems there are a lot of rumors and a lot of truth. Emma was a very shrewd, entrepreneurial person who worked for and against whoever suited her ambitions at the time. These included commercial enterprises, royalty, local tribes, head-men, government agencies and religious organizations. But there is a lot more to her story...
A yearly mask festival is held in Kokopo, Papau New Guinea and this year I was one of many bystanders witnessing this event. But of course in the Land of the unexpected , it was different that i thought.
We walked for about 10 minutes up hill and already started complaining about the heat , sun , bags , weight ...Anything we could think of .It just seemed like a perfect timing to complain about how unlucky we are = never mind the fact that we have arrived in the world famous Meteora that people dream to come to visit .For a second even rocks did not seem that special.
On the left side we had some insane seating areas with bean bags and then a bar and on the right side were entrance in club , warehouse , techno room .Almost all were Greeks and only once or twice during the night i heard someone speaking any English at all .
Time to hit the next Town .Thessaloniki .Here we come .Bus tickets in hand and front seats taken .( Bus tickets Lefkas to Thessaloniki -= 36 Euro per person ) I must admit I was feeling a little bit like an old lady at the first seat right at the front of the bus. Mostly awake, but i did have few moments of head hitting window glass on the sleepy moment.
5 hours on the road trough mountains, tunnels over and over again with mad Greek bus driver who smoked every 30 minutes ( really not ....

Many glasses of Bacardi and some strange shots later it was 3AM and we were drunk. Tunnel bar in Vassiliki did its job and provided us with great time , relaxed mood and even some dancing in the streets on the way home , with Taylor Swift on the phone music player. Oh and uncomfortable, drunk voice message to P who most likely got scared, but did not admit it.
A Couple from Izrael stopped and by accident started to block traffic.
Road was narrow right next to the parking lot and for 2 cars simultaneously drive right next to each other was nearly impossible. They were one of those people who are just happy and excited. They agreed to give us a lift until Komilio. Where road breaks of to either Lefkas town or Vassiliki .
It was small road all the way to the split and drive was slow. K tried to speak some Hebrew. But couple did not seem to enjoy that.So we changed subject to travel.Soon enough main road showed up and they stopped.
Lefkada Island. That is a starting point on all the new adventure .Camp , walk , hitchhike and what ever it takes to get around Greece !
We woke up in camping that is located only 2 km away from Lefkada town. Also known as Lefkas town .Camping was called " Campingg Karoites Beach"
We arrived late at night and after many hours on the road anything that resembling a bed would work .Owner lead a way to little white caravan under the trees .No towels , sheets or any luxury at all .Bathrooms and showers about 5 min walk in the building . But they had a hot water !
So I decided to visit Matala SOLO . Wonder ,why the *** I would do that .. As a female travelling alone , sometimes I end up , really , being alone .
I arrived in late afternoon . my bus was half full with no sign that there is a massive party at the end ….
