Within 1 week of visit in Boracay i have :
- met about 40 gay guys
- seen "working girls " everywhere ( i really mean everywhere at any time , i dont even know anymore who is a working and who is not .)
- seen transvestites " catch " drunk guys after midnight with their iconic pick up line : " love you long time " . Wonder how is " morning after " for those guys.
- been asked where is my girlfriend about 20 times ( straight female , just likes to wear simple shorts And tshirt )
- and i met a single - straight guy that turned out to be ...
" Yes " and she froze awkwardly staring at me . Minute later still awkward eye contact , and no reply .
Welcome to Boracay - Love you long time .This is the place where you never know .
And of course its famous for this sexual orientation, "word of mouth "promo .
2 of 10 : Pay for your own harassment - Fire dancers .
They are great ... Until they dance next to your Pizza place with their fat belly .. Trying to get tips .
But you have never called them over .
They will harass you until you will give them a tip .
Fire dancers shows are everywhere in Boracay and many of them are amazing , just don't go to a restaurant where fire dancers are performing .
3 of 10 :Damn chihuahua
Want to have a dog - don't let it s**** all over the beach .Seems like this is going on every morning on the white sand beach . Bare feet running is my favourite , until i step into the ... " thing "
Solution : Don't take IT out of your house .
Or even Better don't have a dog , have a cat instead .
Seen transvestites " catch " drunk guys after midnight with their iconic pick up line : " love you long time " . Wonder how is " morning after " for those guys.
God dam it .. As soon as you meet someone nice they have to leave .... Everyone who arrives in here are just looking for quick pastime and boom - done .For those who stay on the Island this is not a good news .Its like your heart is getting broken every week , by amazing people you meet . This is the place where friendship have an expire date .
Of course its not all bad , some just cancel their flight and stay forever ...
5 of 10 : Bbq and rice
Enough is enough . I can not eat rice anymore .. every possible corner is selling exactly the same things . BBQ or a burger with meat and tomato sauce ... Or rice of course . and plain . Really ? Where is the sauce ?! What happened with Spanish influence ?
Of course there are many restaurants offering all possible cuisine from the world , but i m talking local here .
6 of 10 :Annoying sellers .
Just stop selling me this S **** . I mean it ... If you have seen me about 500 times passing , why do you offer me those sun glasses again ? ( by the way haven't you noticed that i already wear a pair ?)
street vendors must be the most annoying thing and if you are being kind and will talk to them or just say hi - within minutes you will be surrounded by 5 of them .
And the funny things is , 99 % of tourists hate them , but then there is this one old fat lady with bag full of cash and she buys stuff from these sellers ( 4 times more than in market ) .And because of her sellers will never give up ..
7 of 10 : All they need is one bag of cash .
#Always , YES
Every time you ask something anywhere answer is YeS , but after a while you realize , answer is yes because some locals do not speak english and they see YES as a solution .
Well thats not a problem if you don't speak English , if you tell me that you don't understand . Or at least if its shown in your body language some how -
Dont say YES and then just stand there wondering .And waste my time. Seems thats Yes is the normal reply to any question .
" Do you want to give me everything you own " me
" yes " and she froze awkwardly staring at me . Minute later still awkward eye contact , and no reply .
" Do you speak English ? " me
" Yes " she said ....
Are daily life needs less important that the latest model of a smartphone ?
Regular day - buying pack of cookies and coffee at local market .. And a girl at the counter runs to look for calculator . All i have is 2 products (8+ 10 ) ..
Maybe im just gifted , that i can calculate it !
9 of 10 : Sh*t on the beach .
" Do not litter on the beach .." says beach signs , posters and t- shirts that locals are wearing . .
I got the message !
But whats is there so difficult for locals to understand , do you really have to throw your sh*t out in front of the litter sign while wearing a shirt that says : no littering .
I mean , talk about the example, right !
10 of 10 : No house , but newest i phone .
When you walk around In Boracay you can see an interesting sight :
Locals will sit in front of their house ( no doors , half a roof is broken , chickens running in the living room.... ) , but they will have the latest model of smartphone in their hands . How is this working ? Are daily life needs less important that a latest model of a smartphone ?
